The Executive Director Busesa Community Development Organization (BCDO) and famous Demo farmer Dr Richard Lubega has been appointed to represent Kibaale District in the second Africa Test and Treat Initiative Conference against cancer and other NCDs which will take place on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of February 2024 at Hotel Africana, Kampala Uganda.
This happens after BCDO registering a tremendous achievement in the fight against cervical cancer through different Community Outreaches testing the community members to provide them with awareness on their health status especially on cervical cancer.
The conference is organized on different objectives which include:
- To strengthen primary and secondary prevention through enhancing
extensive cancer and other NCDs awareness and screening/testing. - To strengthen practical improvement of cancer and other NCDs screening,
diagnostic and linkage to care services to close the community laboratory –Clinician interface. - To build strong collaborations for data management and utilization in
research and surveillance at all levels for best practices and
sustainability. - To realize affordable & accessible pre-cancer, cancer treatment and
Palliative Care services. - To strengthen integration of the cancer program and other NCDs
programs in other Disease programs at Ministry of health levels across
Africa.
According to BCDO the above objectives will impact the community members of Kibaale district and Uganda at large which will help in effecting the cause.
Dr Richard highlights that following the above objectives which he confirmed to be in line with those of BCDO, the health status in the district will be uplifted and in this case he committed to return and put all he will have learned into practice for the benefit of the community members.
